UPDATE - June 14, 2022 - 12:07 pm

Construction has started and is anticipated to take 7 weeks.

Original Notice - June 2, 2022

The Regional District of North Okanagan (RDNO) will be replacing the existing water main on 30th Avenue from 11th Street to 13th Street as part of Greater Vernon Water’s infrastructure renewal program.  The existing water main is 50 years old and has experienced multiple breaks requiring costly emergency repairs and inconvenience to customers.  The contractor, PW Trenchless Construction Inc. and engineering consultant, Kerr Wood Leidal, will be replacing the water main by “bursting” - a trenchless technology.  This non-invasive technique uses less excavation than traditional open cut construction that will minimize local disturbances.  For information on this technology and its advantages, see following link: https://www.pwtrenchless.com/trenchless-methodologies/pipe-bursting/.

Construction is planned to start in the next few weeks and is anticipated to take 5 to 6 weeks.  During this time, there may be traffic disruptions and short term water outages.  Local residents will be kept informed by the RDNO’s representatives working on the project.
