Water Notice

The Regional District of North Okanagan (RDNO) wishes to remind agricultural water customers that the annual turn off of water services begins Monday, September 16, 2019. This process takes approximately two weeks to reach all customers.

Many water services suffered freezing damage last winter. To avoid the cost of repairing or replacing your water meter or backflow preventer, please winterize your service. It is the customer’s responsibility to protect the meter and Backflow Prevention Device from freezing. Equipment should be drained after turn-off and covered or removed for storage. DO NOT blow high pressure air through the meter or backflow preventer as this could damage the equipment. Instructions for winterizing your equipment can be found under Utilities.

Customers may apply for late turn-off, which allows customers to use water at the Allocation fee rate until October 16, 2019. Applications can be found at www.rdno.ca or picked up at the RDNO office. A $75 Application Fee will apply. Requests for late turn-off received on or after September 16 will be subject to an additional $55 Operator Service Fee to cover the cost to send out a staff member to the service a second time.

Water use over the property’s Allocation will be charged at Over Consumption Rates. Self-Serve customers who do not apply for late turn-off will be charged the Off-Season Rate of $0.87/cubic meter for all water usage after September 16, 2019.
