The Regional District of North Okanagan (RDNO), in conjunction with Interior Health, advises that the Water Quality Advisory issued on July 5, 2024, to customers supplied by Greater Vernon Water (GVW) in some areas of Mission Hill, Commonage Road and West Kal (see map for affected area) has been RESCINDED.

Bacterial testing results and disinfection levels are within normal drinking water standards in the distribution system.

ORIGINAL NOTICE: July 5, 2024

Greater Vernon Water (GVW), in conjunction with Interior Health (IH) has issued a WATER QUALITY ADVISORY (WQA) for some customers in the areas of Mission Hill, Commonage Road, and West Kal (see attached map). This WQA will remain in effect until rescinded by GVW.

Why are customers affected?

Ongoing bacterial testing has shown a possible degradation in water quality for the customers located within the area of the attached map. The Regional District North Okanagan is currently investigating the source of the degradation and increased sampling in the area will be done.

What should affected customers do?

Until the WQA is rescinded, very young children, the elderly and those with weakened immune systems should exercise caution and all customers may choose to boil their water for at least one minute when using it for the following purposes:

  • Drinking
  • Brushing teeth
  • Washing fruits and vegetables to be eaten raw
  • Making beverages or ice
