Grindrod Park Baseball Diamond Brought Back to Life

Residents and visitors to Grindrod Park in Electoral Area F (Rural Enderby) will find a new and improved baseball diamond available for community use.

Over the past decade, the broader Enderby area has seen significant growth in youth and adult sport participation, which has led to increased demand for local ball diamonds.

To address this demand, several upgrades were made to the existing ball diamond at Grindrod Park to restore it to a safe and playable condition.  This included the installation of a new infield, backstop, sideline fencing, covered player benches, bases, foul poles, and an upgraded waterline. These enhancements have increased the facility’s capacity and improved its quality to better serve all user groups. This initiative was jointly funded through the Enderby and District Services Commission and the RDNO Electoral Area F Parks service.

“We are committed to enhancing recreational infrastructure in the area to ensure that residents and visitors have access to high-quality facilities,” stated Allysa Hopkins, Director of RDNO Electoral Area F. “These upgrades will not only support the growing demand for youth baseball in the region but also provide adult leagues more opportunities to enjoy the sport.”

“I am excited to see this addition to our ball diamond inventory.  User group demand exceeds what is available and it only continues to grow.  Providing great recreation opportunities is essential to having a healthy, vibrant community,” said City of Enderby Councillor Shawn Shishido, and Chair of the Enderby and District Services Commission.

As identified in the Electoral Area F Parks and Culture Master Plan, a key objective for the area is to provide community infrastructure that meets the needs of residents and visitors, is in good condition to ensure continued service, and allows for the growth of programming and participation. The completion of this facility will give nearby communities in the area, including the City of Enderby, Grindrod, Grandview Bench, Ashton Creek, Mara, and Kingfisher, an improved facility to enjoy.
