Original notice - April 4, 2025

The Regional District of North Okanagan (RDNO), in conjunction with Interior Health, advises customers supplied by the Grindrod Water Utility (GRW) that starting April 7, 2025, there will be a water outage while planned construction work is completed. GRW will be placed on a Precautionary Boil Water Notice (BWN) as a result of the work (see map of affected area).

The BWN will be in effect until sampling results confirm that the drinking water is safe. While water service to customers is being restored, you may experience some turbidity, which is normal. Please run a cold water tap until the water runs clear. An outdoor tap(s) is preferred.

Why is this notice in place?

Planned construction work is scheduled for April 7, 2025, which will cause a water loss to customers between 8:00 am and 6:00 pm and this could be extended if unforeseen circumstances arise. It is suggested that you store a short-term water supply for cooking and toilet use before the interruption.

An event causing water loss to GRW customers can depressurize the distribution pipes, increasing the risk of back siphonage into the water mains. The water leaving the treatment plant continues to be treated via clarification, filtration, and chlorination.

What should affected customers do?

Once the water service is restored, all customers should boil their water for at least one minute when preparing any food, drinking, washing fruits & vegetables, making beverages or ice, or brushing their teeth.

Where can I find updates?
