The work was completed on July 27, 2022 and the area was returned to normal operations. Follow
up bacterial testing results were negative and disinfection (chlorine) levels are within normal
drinking water standards in the distribution system therefore the GVW precautionary Boil Water
Notice is RESCINDED.

Original Notice - July 12, 2022

Greater Vernon Water (GVW), in conjunction with Interior Health, advises customers in the Binns
Road area of Coldstream as outlined on the attached map, that GVW is issuing a precautionary
Boil Water Notice
as of July 10, 2022.

Why is this notice in place?

Due to a broken water valve that failed on July 10, 2022, GVW must service this area via an
overland fire hose connected to a hydrant until the issue can be repaired. The hose has been
disinfected, however as there is less physical protection from cross connection than a buried pipe
this precautionary Boil Water Notice has been issued.

What should affected customers do?

All customers should boil their water for at least one minute when using for purposes such as:

• Drinking
• Brushing teeth
• Washing fruits & vegetables to be eaten raw
• Preparing any food
• Mixing baby formula
• Making beverages or ice
