A return to high outdoor water use could push the system beyond its capacity and we may need to implement a two (2) day per week schedule if necessary to protect water quality and quantity.
Most lawns only need water once per week to remain healthy. Lawns naturally brown and go dormant with minimal water when it is hot – this is okay and the lawn will green up when the weather cools.
The three (3) day per week water restrictions schedule provides options for water use and should not be viewed as a directive to water every allowable day.
Even when under water restrictions, residents may water any time by hand with a watering can or hose with a spring-loaded shut-off nozzle. Drip irrigation is also allowed any time as evaporation is minimal when the water is applied directly at the plant roots.

Original Notice - July 23, 2022 - 10:47am
No outdoor watering restrictions are in effect starting today, July 23, 2022, for all customers on the Grindrod Water (GRW) system due to an issue with the treatment plant that required repair. This resulted in the treatment plant needing to be drained causing reservoir levels to drop which now requires all customers to decrease their water use in order to fill it back up to normal levels.
During the repair, all water delivered to customers was treated to standards and the plant was turned off before untreated water entered the distribution system.
The repair is now complete and the system is operating normally. The decrease in water use should only be required for a few days to allow the reservoir to fill back up to normal levels. If water usage remain high, customers could lose water service.
During this period of no outdoor watering restrictions, customers may water by hand with a watering can or hose with a spring-loaded shut-off nozzle to maintain plant health, but sprinklers and irrigation systems should not be used. For more information, visit https://www.rdno.ca/restrictions.
