Update: August 21, 2024 - 1:23pm
In conjunction with Interior Health, the Regional District of North Okanagan (RDNO) advises some customers supplied by Greater Vernon Water (GVW) in the areas of 32nd Ave between Alexis Park Dr and Bella Vista Rd and 38th St between 32nd Ave and 30th Ave (see map under original notice below) are on a precautionary Boil Water Notice (BWN) until sampling results confirm the drinking water is safe. This BWN replaces the previously placed Water Quality Advisory (WQA) for this area.
A rupture of the water main in this area resulted in a loss of water pressure and increased turbidity. As a result, the RDNO is issuing a BWN to affected areas, replacing and flushing the water main, and sampling the water main to ensure the continued safety of the water system. Crews are currently on-site repairing the breaks.
What should customers do?
The level of service and treatment provided by the RDNO has been maintained; however, customers in the affected area should boil their water for at least one minute when preparing any food, drinking, washing fruits & vegetables, making beverages or ice or when brushing teeth.
After the repairs are complete, residents in the affected area may experience reduced water pressure, discolouration of the water, and/or air in their water. Please run a cold water tap until the water has cleared. An outside tap is preferred.
Updates will be posted to www.rdno.ca/news (filter by Water Notices). You can also subscribe to receive email updates at www.rdno.ca/subscribe.
When the notice is rescinded, it will be posted on the RDNO website.
If you have any questions, please contact the RDNO Utilities Department at 250-550-3700.
Update: August 21, 2024 - 10:50am
There is a water main break at 32nd Ave and 38th St. and crews are working on it. This affects approximately 20 properties and the water is turned off. It is expected to take approximately 4 hours to perform repairs.
Original Notice: August 21, 2024 - 9:35am
As part of ongoing efforts by the Regional District of the North Okanagan (RDNO) to maintain
water quality and infrastructure, the existing water main along 32nd Ave is to be reinstated to
ensure adequate consumer water quantity, moving forward. The work is proposed to be complete
on 2024-08-22 between the hours of 9:00am – 12:00pm. During this period, water service to your
residence will be temporarily turned off. To minimize the inconvenience, we recommend that you
take the following precautions:
- Store an adequate supply of water for drinking, cooking, household needs, and sanitation purposes.
- Ensure that faucets are turned off to prevent any damage once water service is restored.
- Plan ahead for any activities that may require water, such as bathing or laundry.
Following the water interruption, a Water Quality Advisory (WQA) will be in effect.
During this time, you may notice reduced water pressure, air in the water, discoloration and/or
increased turbidity (cloudiness). Please run a cold tap until the water has cleared. An outside tap
is preferred.
The level of treatment provided by the RDNO has been maintained; however, some customers
may wish to boil their water for at least one minute when preparing any food, drinking, washing
fruits & vegetables, making beverages or ice or when brushing teeth.
This WQA will expire Tuesday August 27, 2024 at 4:00pm, unless otherwise notified.
