Update - 2:00 pm
The Regional District of North Okanagan (RDNO), in conjunction with Interior Health, advises that the Boil Water Notice issued on April 13, 2023 to customers supplied by the Mabel Lake Water Utility has been RESCINDED (affected area map). All bacterial testing results and disinfection levels are within normal drinking water standards in the distribution system.
Due to annual spring standpipe turn-ons, customers may continue to notice some cloudiness or sediment in their water until tomorrow. If customers experience this, please run a cold water tap closest to where the water enters your house before your hot water tank, any in home filtration, or taps with aerators. An outside tap is preferred. Protect outside taps from freezing if used
Update - April 14, 2023 - 4:00 pm
The Boil Water Notice (BWN) issued on April 13, 2023 for Mabel Lake Water (MLW) remains in effect until further notice.
Customers should boil their water for at least one (1) minute when preparing any food, drinking, washing fruits & vegetables, making beverages or ice or brushing teeth.
The computer communication failure that caused unchlorinated water to be pumped into the water distribution system has been fixed. The system is being returned to normal operating conditions.
Annual Spring Hydrant Standpipe Turn-ons
In addition to the BWN, operators will be completing regular spring hydrant standpipe turn-ons over the next several days.
Part of the standpipe turn-on process includes flushing water mains. As a result, customers may notice some cloudiness or sediment in their water. Please run a cold water tap closest to where the water enters your house before your hot water tank, any in home filtration, or taps with aerators. An outside tap is preferred. Protect outside taps from freezing if used.

Original Notice - April 13, 2023
Mabel Lake Water (MLW), in conjunction with Interior Health, advises customers that they are on a Boil Water Notice (BWN) as of April 13, 2023.
The BWN is in effect until the system returns to normal operating guidelines and sampling results confirm that the drinking water is safe.
