The Regional District of North Okanagan (RDNO) – Grindrod Water Utility (GRW), in conjunction with Interior Health, advises customers that the Grindrod water supply is under a precautionary Water Quality Advisory.

Where and why are customers affected?
As a precaution, all customers who receive water from Grindrod Water Utility are on a Water Quality Advisory (WQA) due to a power outage causing an interruption in water service. The RDNO will continue monitoring the water quality and once power has stabilized, then GRW customers will be notified of the WQA rescind via the road signs, the RDNO website and the Grindrod Water email alert system. To sign up for the Grindrod Water email alert system, go to the RDNO homepage, click on “Subscribe for Updates” and click on Grindrod Water to be emailed updates for the Grindrod Water system.

What does Water Quality Advisory mean?
Until the Water Quality Advisory is rescinded, the following customers should exercise caution when using water for consumption purposes:

  • Young children
  • Elderly
  • People with weakened immune systems. (Customers who are unsure whether their immune system is compromised should discuss with a physician if they should always take these precautions).

For these customers, water intended for the following uses should be boiled for one minute:

  • drinking
  • preparing any foods
  • mixing baby formula
  • washing fruits and vegetables to be eaten raw
  • making beverages or ice
  • brushing teeth
