Update - November 1, 2:55 pm: Customers switched to Kalamalka Lake Source Yesterday are now back on Duteau and included in the Notice
This is not a boil water notice
A leak was discovered in the pipe that carries water from the Duteau Creek Ultraviolet (UV) Disinfection facility out to customers. The UV portion of water treatment will be temporarily turned-off to allow for repairs. While water will not be treated with UV, the water will still be treated by the Duteau Creek Water Treatment Plant, which is the same process that was in place for years until the UV Facility was turned on in February 2019.
Out of an abundance of caution, and to notify customers of the change in treatment, GVW is sharing this water quality notification.
Do I have to boil my water?
Out of an abundance of caution, anyone wishing additional protection, including infants, and those with a compromised immunce system may wish to boil water for drinking, washing fruits & vegetables, making beverages or ice, or when brushing teeth.
Who will be affected?
All customers who normally receive water from Duteau Creek have now been switched back to their regular water source and are on a water quality notice. Click for map - expanded area
How long will repairs take?
We are still assessing the leak, so until we can diagnose the extent of the leak, we will not know an exact date, but updates will be posted to our website and sent out to subscribers of the Email Alert System.
