Greater Vernon Water - Water Quality Advisory for Kalamalka Rd Area

Type
Water Notice

In conjunction with Interior Health, the Regional District of North Okanagan (RDNO) advises some customers supplied by Greater Vernon Water along Kalamalka Rd north of Husband Rd and south of Alpine Centre (100 Kalamalka Rd, see map) that they are on a precautionary Water Quality Advisory (WQA) until January 8 at 5:00pm.

A break in the water main in this area resulted in a loss of water pressure and increased turbidity. As a result, the RDNO is issuing a WQA to affected areas, repairing and flushing the water main, as well as sampling the water main to ensure the continued safety of the water system. Crews are currently on-site repairing the break.

What should customers do?

When the water service resumes, properties in the area may experience reduced water pressure, discolouration of the water, and/or air. Please run a cold water tap until the water has cleared.  An outside tap is preferred.

The level of service and treatment provided by the RDNO has been maintained; however, some customers may wish to boil their water for at least one minute when preparing any food, drinking, washing fruits & vegetables, making beverages or ice or when brushing teeth.

Updates will be posted to www.rdno.ca/news (filter by Water Notices). You can also subscribe to receive email updates at www.rdno.ca/subscribe

This notice will be rescinded on January 8, 2025 at 5:00pm without additional notification from the RDNO.

If you have any questions, please contact the RDNO Utilities Department at 250-550-3700.
